A very beautiful opal, Michael. I am a fan of precious Australian opal since childhood, this was one of the minerals that fascinated me from the beginning. And it took me long as a serious collector to find one I like AND I can afford. And that opal that became one of my most beloved pieces is like yours from the Quilpie area :-)

Thank you, Tobi. The play of colors in Quilpie opal is amazing.

Are you sure it is from Wanlockhead? I have never seen anything like that from there.
Is this the same specimen?

Hi James,
The barite was in Rock Currier's collection. Yes, it sure looks like the same specimen, just a slightly different angle. I was unaware that Rock uploaded it to Mindat. As for the location, I can only go by what was on the label.

Michael
You could ask on 'Where is it from' and see what is said. Hilton Mine might be a possibility
