PostPosted: Nov 13, 2006 08:37    Post subject: Visit to Southern Spain

Greetings,

I am planning a trip to southern Spain in November 2007 and am wondering if you would share some collecting localities or field trips with me. I am particularly interested in the blue quartz found near Malaga. Is this publically accessible or only in a mine?

Is there a way to arrange a tour of any of the working mines while I am there? (I am not familiar with the health and safety concerns of Spain, but in USA it is difficult to arrange these things) and if so, what would you suggest?

If I make it to Barcelona, could I have a tour of your collection (if it is available for display)?

If there is only one place you would insist a visitor see while in Southern Spain, what would it be? If there is only one must see location for mineral specimens in southern Spain, what would you consider it?

Thanks so much for your time,
Jan

Hi Jan,

About field trips and collecting localities in southern Spain is anything organized. The single Spanish localities where you have this possibilities are the two main Pyrite quarries: Navajún and Ambasaguas, both in the north of Spain. So, your only chance is to get someone from Spain, also liking minerals and available to help you on your mineral trip.
I will pass your message to both collector's Spanish forums: MINERESP and Mulhacen. If someone there can help you they will let you know. To do it I would need your permission to publish there your e-mail address in order to contact with you.

I'm sorry to tell you that my collection is no available for display.

Hello Mr. Fabre,

Thank you for your quick response.

You have my permission to publish my e-mail address as janr....@gmail.com. Please ask that some mention of Spain be included in the subject line when sending a personal e-mail. This will stop unknown senders from being collected as spam.

I am sorry your collection is not for public display; I'm sure it is an amazing site.

Have a great day!

Jan

Jan,

I already published on MINERESP and Mulhacen Forums a message requesting help for your trip. Hopefully you get it.

Hello again Jordi,

And thank you for your help. I just recently spoke with a friend of mine going to school in Barcelona from the Netherlands. Looks like I will be up there for a visit also!

Enjoy your coffee, as you will likely not see this in the AM.

Jan,

Do you have the chance to read / understand Spanish language?
If yes, I could publish also your message on our Spanish Forum: https://www.fabreminerals.com/forum/Foro-Mensajes/
Please letting me know.
