Gail, instead of writing the usual general thanks and appreciations, here some things that came to my mind while reading the last pages of your report.

1.) Now that i've seen the spessartine and the aquamarine from Pakistan in the Obboda's case, i'm head over heels in love.

2.) Congratulations to your new aquamarine single crystal. What a beauty, just great!

3.) I'm sorry to hear that the young rascal knocked off one of your specimens. He's young and maybe he doesn't know better, but what about the parents? Didn't they see him knocking against your display? If they did, then why do people with so much disrespect for minerals visit Tucson? :-/

Cheers!

This doesn't directly relate to Gail's extraordinary show reports but I know not where else to post it so here goes. The mineral hobby is the only one with which I am familiar. The Tucson "Show" actually runs for just over two weeks. Therefore, I am wondering if there are shows relating to other forms of collecting that last as long.

Actually, there are five of them. Sowerby's British Mineralogy.
Ex A.E. Foote complete with a few notes in the pages written by him.
Re bound, but they original bindings are being sent to us. The pages are complete and intact.
The illustrations are incredible and beautifully done.
We have purchased a number of the Lindsay Greenbank pieces, some of which are quite historic, and am busy building a British suite of minerals, so this just adds to the joy of this part of our collection.

The Society of Mineral Museum Professionals put in a couple of cases, this one caught my eye. It was a challenge to guess where pieces are from, or what they are. They left a notebook under the case to write your guesses or opinions in.
I love interactive and educational displays, and this one was truly fun.
