Albero is a type of rock.

https://www.linguee.es/espanol-ingles/traduccion/albero.html

There are about 5 quarries near the town (look on Google Earth). So I guess it could be from one of those quarries near the town? Or from somewhere else completely, and he names this town with quarries to help hide the locality.

Rob

Some thoughts on where it is from, from our local Spanish collectors.

You can see similar material as you drive along the A-92 highway from Seville towards Arahal, near a place called Majadillas. It can also be found in the cement works on the right if you drive on the A-92 from Alcalá towards Seville. The latter is easier to visit during the weekends so might be more likely. There are, however, other possibilities so it is not certain where he is finding them.

Give us a few weeks and we will get the right locality for you

James

This shows you all the quarries we know about, by name. We do not, yet, know which one your specimen might have come from

Hello James,

Thank you very much for your replies. I am very curious if you and/or the people you are referring to, can find the right location. By the way: it is OK for me that someone wants to keep the locality secret for a period of time (that's rather usual), but it is also OK that others try to find that of course. I hope you are successful.
Again, thank you,

Cheers Rob

Rob

So far, they are not sure which quarry he found them in, but they (local collectors, not me) think the find was a few years ago, so it will be hard to confirm as the area will have been worked through.

I guess your label should be 'Alcalá de Guadaira, Sevilla, Andalusia, Spain'

James

Request to one of the administrators : in the description of Photo 059 Calcite is Chalcopyrite mentioned as one of the accompanying minerals. I received a message from Bob Carnein who believes it is not Chalcopyrite but Marcasite. I think he is absolutely right. Looking on mindat I see a lot of these combinations, all with Marcasite. Could someone alter this? (And is this the right way to ask that?)

Bob, thanks again.

Cheers,
Rob
