Vachik,
As always, beautiful specimens.
If I understand correctly, the green Andradite garnets are not from Kerman? Nice to see them on matrix.

Thanks Bob. Yes, these Andradite specimens are not from Kerman. This new locality in NE Takab, NW Iran can be conisdered as the second major locality for andradite (var. demantoid) after Soghan in Kerman. A detailed mineralogical investigation is needed to say more on differences with those from Kerman. I have obtained them from a local dealer.

Hi to everybody! I saw these green garnets, they are very nice! But I have a question: provided the green colour is not emphatised by the machine and therefore the pictures really represent the true green colour of the crystals, how can you establish the garnets are andradite and not uvarovite? According to the colour, it`s much more similar to the uvarovite one, than to the andradite one. Just you should check the spectrum on the optical window (from violet to red). Iron lines on green and blue should be sightable if it is andradite.

Hi Riccardo,
These garnets are in true colour.
I checked with a colleague in Geological Survey in Tehran. There is an unpublished mineralogical/gemological report on this occurrence in which it was attributed to Andradite. However, we certainly need to obtain further specimens for a thorough analysis as was done for very similar specimens from Soghan Kerman. One can reminds me whether Kerman specimens were uvarovite or not? I supposed not!

Really interesting subject about a mineralogical country not well represented in the shows!
And really nice specimens of epidote!
Thx a lot for sharing this with us!
And what about the awesome red wulfenites? _________________ Young french geologist engineer somewhere around the world .

Thanks Nico! Soon we (Tim Welting and me) will have a note with fresh photographs of Iranian wulfenites from several localities including awesome "red wulfenites". At the moment we are working on photographs and related text.
Cheers,
