Three European mineral magazines have been mentioned in the FMF recently (Lapis, Mineralienwelt -> https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=1110 and UK Journal of Mines and Minerals -> https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=1111 ) so it would be unfortunate if we did not also call attention to another excellent publication – Rivista Mineralogica Italiana. It is a quarterly dealing primarily with Italian mineral localities (a remarkable number of very good and interesting finds appear in that prolific country), but not only are Italian minerals featured.
I have on my desk the latest issue of 2009 (see picture), that includes a very extensive article on the minerals of Wadi Natrun, Egypt, written by two very competent scientists, Marco Marchesini and Antonello Barresi. A new find of inesite and a new species cassagnaite, both from classic Italian manganese localities, are also described.
Photographer Roberto Apiani is the most frequent contributor, with high quality pictures that anybody can enjoy without being able to read Italian. In any case each article is followed by brief abstracts in English and German.
There are also frequent reports on what was seen at major European mineral shows, mostly those in Italy. This is a lovely publication beautifully printed on high quality paper. The photos alone are worth the cost of the magazine. Please send inquiries about subscriptions to: renpagan(at)gmail(dot)com
