Lou,
On my opinion the most suitable Museum to visit is the Geology Museum on the Parc de la Ciutadella, for the wonderful place where the Museum is located, its historical building and the mineral collection, not great, but correct.
The link of the Museum's web page is:

Unfortunately the great Folch's collection is not accessible for private visitors. I'm sorry for it.

Close to Barcelona you could find the Mollfulleda Museum as Xavi said.
Take a look:
https://www.fabreminerals.com/forum/Message-Board/viewtopic.php?p=426
and enjoy there the best seafood and paella...(of course not in the Museum).
Also you could visit the Bellmunt del Priorat Mines (close to the town of Falset, Tarragona). You could try to collect there in the old works.

Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions.
I will make it a priority to visit the Natural Science museum.
Mr. Curto, I will certainly ask if you are available to say hello.
It seems like I do not have enough time to enjoy wonderful Barcelona.
Best regards to all,

Sorry, Lou, but May 1 and 2 I'm not in Barcelona. Actually the Museum is not avaliable to public because we are remodelling and translating the exhibition to a new building and the exhibit halls are in a terrible mess and, so, closed.
We expect to open the new permanent exhibition in (more or less) a year. |

Carles,
I am sorry to hear that the mineral display is currenly closed. However I am glad to hear that the exhibit is being remodeled, which is contrary to the current condition of many US mineral museum displays.
Regards,
