Hello-

I am a brand new forum member and have a question on behalf of a friend. He is writing a book on the turquoise trade between the Southwestern US and Mexico before European contact. Most researchers believe that there was not any high quality turquoise available in Mexico and all turquoise had to be imported to ancient Mexican civilizations from the mines in Ariz., NM, Colorado, and Nevada.

Do any of the forum members know of well documented pre-Columbian turquoise mines in Mexico and most likely, in Northern Mexico based on the usual geology associated with the formation of turquoise.
