Gemstone enhancement, by Kurt Nassau, second edition (1994)
Unfortunately not published anymore and difficult to get your hands on (especially the second edition which has been updated with new data about more recent treatment processes).
This books provides a detailed presentation of existing gemstone treatments.
It features tons of useful informations about treatments, including which treatments are being applied to which stones, and how these can be detected out of the laboratory when it's possible.
Considering that treatments are not only applied to cut gemstones but also to rough stones, I think this book is of great interest both to gemologists and mineral collectors. |

Hi to everybody! I fully agree with Cascaillou, because I read the Italian version of it. Its descriptions about the enhancements in gemstones are very well detailed and explained. Unfortunately it is not well updated, because many enhancement methods have come into the gemstone market since 1994 (already 17 years are over!!!), but nevertheless its bigness is not to be discussed!
Greetings from Italy by Riccardo. _________________ Hi! I'm a collector of minerals since 1973 and a gemmologist. On Summer I always visit mines and quarries all over Europe looking for minerals! Ok, there is time to tell you much much more! Greetings from Italy by Riccardo. |
