A few months ago we found a pocket of large crystals in Amity New york
We've found Diopside, Titanite, Scapolite,Uvite, Fluorapite, Fluoro-edenite, Azurite, Fluorite, Norbergite and Phlogopite.

One of my favorites, Titanite covered rock, 32 cm tall

This is a Uvite that has a light green fluorescent color 39 mm crystal

Large Meionite crystal 24cm on top of many diopside crystals 50cm overall

My yard is just filled with boulders covered in crystals. It started in September that's when we found the first one and I became a mineral collector

Was the collecting site an old mine dump or quarry?

Do you plan to trim those big rocks to a displayable size? If so, how?

Please post more pictures of those specimens with the big crystals when you finish cleaning them, perhaps as before and after images for comparison.

Yes, right in the back yard, no more than one hundred feet from the house.
What I found out is that about 150 years ago they started finding large crystals here in Amity and is famous for its "Giant Spinels" They were not dumped here I dug them up.
I'm in construction and I am developing this property 32 acres into 6 building lots.
We are at the northern end of the Franklin marble belt and where there is contact between pegmitite granite and marble there is a high crystalization rate. There is still much more to be found here. Iv'e had help from the NYS museum at Albany but still deciding what to do with the large pieces.

A piece of marble covered with tiny crystals, most likely diopside 17 cm overall

Marble with norbergite and diopside under SW-UV. Many of the minerals are fluorescent here.
