"Our Show, a groundbreaking national-level event organized by Hunan Provincial Government and other competent ministries, sponsored and supported by governmental authorities at all levels, has been carried forward at full steam; with our massive and effective promotion activities, most importantly, attracted by the robust Chinese market and the enormous purchase demand brought along by another two brilliant events-the 15th ICA Congress and 2013 Congress of China Association of Natural Science Museums which are to be held at the same period and same place as our show, a great amount of global exhibitors came in succession to register booths with us. So far, among our 1500 booths, about 70% of them have been booked by foreign exhibitors. Our show really lives up to its position as "largest international mineral and gem show in Asia"

Greetings from China Mineral & Gem Show (CMGS, aka The Changsha Show) Organizing Committee! We hope all is well with you and all those you care for.

We are very excited to share with you the main progresses we have made to get ready for the 2nd CMGS which will be held in Changsha, China on May 15-20, 2014 with the theme of “Year of Mines”.

During the 2013 Munich Show, CMGS will be presented with a booth located at EO12. We sincerely invite you to visit us in our booth, ask any questions you might have about the 2nd CMGS .

The inaugural CMGS was held in May 2013 in Changsha. Those of you who have traveled thousands of miles to take the maiden journey with us would agree that the 1st Changsha was a successful event, yet with a number of areas that have room for improvement. In a country where mineral and gem collection is a relatively new hobby and fossil trading has been non-existent, we are very proud that CMGS has become the No. 1 mineral and gem show in Asia, and also one of the most important mineral and gem show in the world.

With an attendance of close to 1,200 exhibitors from 54 countries, over 100,000 visitors and more importantly a total transaction volume of $160 million and a $480 million of transaction amount after the show, the first Changsha Show has exceeded expectations of many participants. The stories of quite a number of exhibitors who saw their entire stock bought out in a matter of hours were exciting and inspiring.

CMGS also served as a powerful venue to educate the Chinese public, in a grand style, on the scientific, cultural and economical value of collecting mineral specimens, gemstones and fossils.

Additionally CMGS has become the barometer and central market hub of the mineral, gem and fossil business in China, a country with 1.3 billion people and $6,100 GDP per capita.

Despite the success of 1st Changsha Show, we are fully aware of the issues and difficulties some international exhibitors encountered during the show. We are very thankful for those of you who took the time to share with us your honest opinions and criticism. After a systematic review of the exhibitor feedback and a complete evaluation of internal processes, we have used the last 5 months to plan and implement an overhaul of our service offering of the 2nd CMGS.


Specifically, our service upgrade for the 2nd Changsha will include:

A newly formed Department of Logistics and Customs Clearance will oversee all logistics and Customs related activities. This department, staffed with very experienced and skilled professionals, will coordinate with exhibitors, cargo forwarder, Customs brokers, shipping companies, import-export handlers to ensure smooth transportation of your exhibits into and out of the country. Based on customer feedback, we have replaced the local freight forwarder,

Preferential tariff and tax policies will continue to be given to exhibitors for the 2nd CMGS. With the official approval by the Central Government of PRC, we are authorized to publish those policies in a clear and understandable fashion. Detail can be found in the attached Show Guide and on the official website in the near future. During the show, those policies will be fully honored and the processes of tariff and tax collection will be much simplified.

On-site show management will be much improved. Booth setup will be handled by more capable and responsive contractors. The Organizing Committee has invested in new exhibit cabinets with outstanding lighting for lease at very low cost.

The Organizing Committee also has made serious commitment to educating Chinese collectors and general public on mineral, gem and fossil collections. Show media coverage for the 2nd CMGS will be even more intense comparing to the well-covered 1st CMGS. A number of national organizations of minerals, gems and fossils collectors are being formed. We will work closely with them to ensure their members are going to be well represented at the 2nd Changsha Show. A National Colored Gemstone Exchange is being built inside the Hunan Conference and Exhibition Center and an industrial park dedicated to gemstone industry will break ground in Changsha in the near future.
