What a gorgeous specimen, Jesse, I simply love your fluorite collection! And I hope Trump will tolerate this kind of emigres. If not and if it is forced to return to Germany - I will give it shelter ;-)

Well, many museums have these in their collections, ie. Freiberg, Berlin, Dresden, Wroclaw etc. But on display? I don't know, maybe Görlitz?

Best regards,
Andreas

Get a copy of:

Kristallformen von Fluorit, by Eddy Van Der Meersche

Lots of great photos. It is shown as figure 111 under form 6.04.1 (6 basic forms)

Definitely not! And I have to specify my answer having not seen the special crystal form before. Görlitz and Wroclaw are the Museum collections that may have such crystals. There are multifaceted crystals in the collections but not the ones shown by Lasaulx.

Andreas - a specimen from Franz Count von Matuschka collection, how nice for my eyes! ! He was born in Debno near Wolów (Schöneiche bei Wohlau), actually in the heart of Natura 2000 area (and 24km from my place of birth). A member of the noble Silesian family, with the most famous Heinrich Gottfried, Count von Mattuschka - an outstanding botanist, Silesian flora expert and author of 'Flora Silesiaca' (1776-1777). I didn't know that his collection survived the siege of Berlin in 1945? Or this is the only single specimen?

This is not the only existing specimen. Some pieces became part of the Berlin Natural History Museum collection. I think, the pucherite is from the same origin. Interesting facts on Matuschka, thank you.

Those are some great barytes you posted, Andreas. Especially the one from Grube St. Johannes is quite exceptional.

I suspect the one you posted from Reicher Spat, Schlettau has the wrong locality, I don't think there were any specimens with this yellow fluorite from this mine. Perhaps you meant Reiche Empfängnis, or one of the other mines in the Frohnau area.
