Dr. Uwe Kolitsch, NHM Vienna, is looking for Tinticite for structure refinement study. Is anybody out there, who can spend a probe?

I'm pretty sure Martin is asking for a SAMPLE of the mineral, a specimen for study for scientific purposes.

There are funny and unfortunate translations of mineral terms between English and German. We might speak of "samples" and "specimens" and perhaps some other terms. The German-speakers speak of Probe (as here) or Stufe (which gets translated as steps) and I'm sure other terms. So I have had some trade-related exchanges with German-speaking folks who wrote me "Thanks for the beautiful steps".

I'm sure if I had written back auf Deutsch, they would have appreciated the effort, but to themselves would have said "Why did you not write back in English?!!!"

Hope this helps, and encourages multi-lingual awareness and attempts to communicate!

I assume that you have already tried the Smithsonian. A cubic cm may be impossible.

Pete you are right, please apologize my deficiency in English speaking - mea culpa! I think the story of the "tower of Babylon" is true. ;)

A sample with a cubic cm is quite a lot.

Martin
