I live in the Norfolk/Suffolk line in Massachusetts and I wanted assistance in looking in the right places for minerals. The town I currently reside in (Norfolk) is very rich in quartz and mica specimens. I have mainly searched for gravel beds and or piles of rocks with "rusty" marks on it. I was hoping for assistance in actually looking in the right places for more crystalline specimens. I was also wondering if I'm looking in the right places (gravel beds, etc.) and where else I should look to find what I'm looking for.

I suggest you join the Connecticut valley mineral club. They know all the cool, and legal, places to dig in Massachusetts and Connecticut. I believe you can join online. That's the best way to learn, hands on. They often go digging. I'm a member but I live in Texas, I just love all the great members and have become friends. I suggest you also look for nearby rock and mineral clubs. Good luck.
