Hi, David,
Not so deadly....
To poison someone with arsenic is not an easy thing...
For one, it is a mithridatic: people get used to it and some it is impossible to be poisoned with it (In Appenzell Canton, people used (or maybe use...) to take arsenic as a dietetic complement (darker hairs, stronger nails,,,,).
And to poison a person, a specific dose should be had. Less, and he survives, Too much and he vomits it and survives.. The case of a maid that wished to kill her patrons. She tried to poison them with a lot of arsenic, but to despise police, she add also less arsenic to her meal...
Maid died and patron survived....
Historic, besides
With best wishes
Lluís

I know it's not the deadliest substance. Poison is in the dosage. Anyway, why on Earth would you eat realgar? Funny about that maid, lack of math can kill. She miscalculated the lethal dosage for her body weight.

Anyway, your realgar looks so good, you could almost believe it's the real thing! Congratulations, it is totally amazing!!! You should also post a picture of the stone for comparison.
Regards,
David

Lluis, you are correct. Historically arsenical compounds have been used to treat asthma (Fowler's Solution), syphilis and psoriasis and other diseases. Some renewed interest also in medicine today in using arsenical compounds for treatment.
Regards,
Don

Actually, realgar shows low acute toxicity by oral route as it is pretty much insoluble in the gastrointestinal tract.
