Sorry, but your picture does not really look like obvious petrified wood (altho it still may be). Your example id doesn't really match the title of your posting. More clarification of what you are asking and what you are showing are needed by me. Also some more photos at different angles and testing of your example would help. BOB

Looks like Serpentine to me...but without some testing we will never know.
Color is by far the least useful piece of information. In my opinion.

I have to agree with the previous 2 comments - I'm not seeing any indication from your pics that what you have is petrified wood. It looks more like a serpentine mineral, or possibly something else, but it's virtually impossible to tell from your pic alone.

That being said, there is indeed green petrified wood from a variety of localities worldwide. The green coloration is typically caused by copper or chromium, at least in the material that I'm familiar with. There is green petrified wood from several localities in the USA (Arizona, Nevada, Montana), Africa and Indonesia, and probably a lot more localities that I'm not familiar with. If you search "green petrified wood" on Google, there are literally pages of specimens from various localities. But again, none of them look anything like what you have in your pic.

I agree , serpentine is the first thing i thought when i had found smaller pieces sorry i am giving useless into maybe you could tell me which information would be useful? i am new to this and would love some advice!
I think defiantly from trees i have another piece that is a stump with lots of tree detail. in the previous picture that piece has bark all around and you can clearly see its a branch round( well maybe not from the picture). i am just was wondering why when i have looked for information green on green petrified wood I cannot find info on it for Washington state and why it is rare ? and if this isnt wood i am really confused i will post better pics if someone wants to help.

Another option is the possibility of being casts. There is a locality in Eastern Oregon that has green chrome colored casts, where limbs that burned out or eroded away left a limb shaped cavity that was later filled. These have no wood grain but the outer shape of the original limbs.

If the specimen is indeed from Washington State, I believe what you have is a slickensided piece of serpentine -- the lustrous smooth side resulting from the piece being "rubbed" against other fragments in a fault zone. Such pieces are very commonly found in roadcuts along the Wenatchee River as it flows through Tumwater Canyon -- which is a few miles from Leavenworth.
