Hello All: Find myself in Istanbul Turkey for a week...anyone know of mineral musuems, collectors or sellers to visit? Teshekur ederim (thanks)

Hola amigo!
Interesting is the Top Kapi Palace, particularlynote a big tray with tumbled large gem Peridotes from Zeberget Island, Egypt with the label: Zeberget which seem to be the name of the stone in Turkish! You can not miss the knife with a giant emerald gem crystal handle!!! Interesting is to walk the center town streets where one is still the koppersmiths street, one the leather workers... just as in medieval times in w Europe.
Just watch out for the "shoe polishers"who will try to rip you off, the carpet sellers inviting you for "tea" in the Bazar....... Keep you wife close to you if she is along.....
Never saw any minerals. Will see if I can find a couple of adresses to some Turkish mineral dealers I saw some years ago.
Ha det bra i Istanbul! There is a beautiful old wooden mansion hotel just below the Sophie Mosque... magical wake up at 04.30 from the minaret calls!!! You think you are dreaming.... If you are coming by w Europe...välkommen hit!!! |
