PostPosted: Jun 12, 2019 09:09    Post subject: Need help with identification

I just recently started collecting rocks and gems and recieved this from a family member. Unfortunately, I have almost no information on it. The outer edge is very hard and smooth, the inner area is still hard but very textured. Any information or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a water rounded and iron stained microcrystalline quartz nodule, more resistant than the original surrounding rock.

And by the way, i personally don"t think much of your pseudonym on this forum........ you might consider using a real name.

I don't find the 'request' any more 'sincere' than the name chosen. I think both likely are about the same level of seriousness......

I guess I must have missed that in the rules section. I guess not everyone has a sense of humor. Btw it is a nickname my son gave to me. Thanks for the warm welcome but I will now back way slowly and find a new more welcoming group.

As a "gaseous toot", I'd think you would recognize this as fossil feces--obviously a coprolite.
