Found this on the Wyoming Plains. It was just sitting in the middle of nowhere with no other rocks around. It is smooth.

Maybe a pleasingly iron-stained and water worn cobble of microcrystalline quartz.....chalcedony. Although no growth rings are apparent, even a broken and water worn piece of petrified wood is possible.
The conchoidal fracture in the upper left is noted, but identification just from the photo is difficult. BOB
