Hello,
Last but not least, yet importantly!
Happy New Year…
Comment: Beautiful terrestrial thin sections. It is worth the most beautiful meteorites by the underlying story.
Luxullianite is a nice granite from the UK that has become rare and has undergone the phenomenon of "tourmalinization". The original granite, which can be seen on the right in one of the thin sections, was included with spherulites of acicular tourmaline whose texture has become fibroradiated.
In cross-polarized light, there is a multitude of extinct Maltese crosses, typical of this spherulite texture.
The tomb of the Duke of Wellington, a friend of Napoleon, is made of this exceptional granite.
Roger.

Very nice! From Cornwall, of course? I once got to attend a conference on granites, in St. Austell.
