Jordi has asked me to add some of my specimens - the only problem being that I will have to photograph them and I always seem to be too busy!

And one from the Jaimina mine - the phantoms form croses in each crystal

18cm x 14 cm, largest crystal is 4cm

This shows the largest crystal, with a better idea of the complex crystal form and you can just about see the cross within each crystal

Welcome to this section of the forum! Good Spanish specimens photos, James.

Please, could you provide the size of each piece in a separate message?

Thanks,

And also, James, please throw away that red background paper, it is at war with the minerals. Very fine specimens.

Hi James,

Great pictures. I'm glad you found time. What about asking to put the sphalerite one to the 2010 strahlen calendar ?

I have now added dimensions with each photo - I meant to last night but it was rather late by the time I had finished. I also agree, John, that the red is horrible - I borrowed it from my son to see what happened. You all have the realise that these are the first photos I have ever taken of my collection.

With regards to the Sphalerite, the photo is not mine as it was taken by my close friend Paco Piña. If you want to use it we could ask him.

So I have finally got the camera back out and I am trying again. This will take time and effort to get right as the lighting is wrong I think and I need to check the color balance. But here we go again - I will add a few for now and then maybe start to do a few more soon.

This is a bitter-sweet specimen for me. I opened the pocket this was in and had what was probably my best ever collecting day. We were collecting with permission from the local Mayor so I thought all was fine. But then a local dealer arrived and forced me to give him all the specimens or be beaten up. Not wanting violence I handed over the complete pocket and later had to buy this back so as to have it in my collection! So I love it and loved finding it, but I hate the way a threat of violence was used to steal it from me and the humiliation of having to buy it back. I am sure other collectors will understand.

Welcome to this section of the forum James. I enjoyed looking at your specimens. I especially like the Baryte on fluorite from Berbes http://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/files/b597_fluorite_179.jpg (B597 fluorite.jpg). Also the sphalerite from the Manforas Mine http://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/files/b450_sphalerite_211.jpg Can't wait to see some more.

Hi James. What an unhappy story! Nice photos and specimens.

I have now build a simple diffuser so as to get less reflections (it needs to be made more sturdy) and am playing with color balance, depth of field and exposure!

Next stage will need more experiments. connecting the camera to the computer (to avoid lots of trip with data card) and some other background colors (I will see what card the children have)
