Hi Jordi:

Of course I know this show very well, it has been held for more than 10 years; the "Main Show" is inside a small pavillion and there almost everybody are gemstone dealers; outside there are few tens of tents where small dealers sell mineral specimens (mostly thrash) or crafts made of stones; this is the part of the how that attracts my interest.

I can almost always find material enough to justify my trip, but I am travelling from Belo Horizonte, only 470 km away from Teófilo Otoni; Tony Kampf organizes a tour to Brazil every year and he always tries to schedule it in order to allow the group to spend at least one day in Teofilo Otoni, during the show, even if they don't find anything interesting to buy they will likely have a lot of fun.

So I would recommend anybody from the Forum that would consider going to Brazil on the time of the FIPP to contact me (or Tony Kampf) to get an advise about it.

Luiz

Hi Luiz.

I am in Minas Gerais in August 2011 and would like to visit FIPP. I would be grateful for any kind of advice you could give me.
I would also love to visit gemstone mines in that area. Could you give me any advice who I can contact regarding mines?
Do you also know of any gemdealers/cutters I can visit? I am mainly interested in facetted material (Quarz, Tourmalin, Beryl etc.)

Thank you so much for your help.

Kind regards,

Jasmin
