How about quartz, especially with the conchoidal fracture, and pretty close to your 8 hardness.

More venues are starting to open as the show makes it's gradual build up to the official opening. This specimen was so large a crane had to be employed to remove it from the truck.

Thanks for the heads up Pierre, I wasn't aware that they had started irradiating the fluorite. I'll be checking the fluorite out a little closer this year in Tucson.

Hi Pete, I found a couple listed on EBay that are similar to your example but the only locality given is a general Diamantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
