Got it Steve, thanks. I am so busy taking photos that I don't always catch names, or only worry that I post the wrong name. It took me ages to figure out how to spell Gene Meieran's last name! If anyone sees a photo of someone they know, please tell me what page to find them on, then the photo number above the photo? I appreciate the help!
Cheers, Gail

I would like to thank you all very much for reporting Tucson Show. I was very upset that I can not go, and you help me to survive this hard time :-) In fact I was so unhappy that I went on trip to Mezica for underground collection. Rest of time I spent refreshing pages with reports :-)

Sorry you missed it, but glad I could help a bit. Thank you Tomasz.

I really never had enough to eat at the Meet the Curator's party so I went ahead and called room service for this wonderful dessert....

Thanks Steve. I cannot tell you enough how much I enjoyed meeting you and your wife! It makes things really special when you actually meet in person, doesn't it?

Jim was not with me though, he was in Dallas on business so I braved hostessing alone. ( If you know me you know I love to hostess! ) We had a great turn out. I got very few photos as I was busy greeting and chatting with everyone. The food and wine were wonderful, the camaraderie was even better! Jim and I will be hosting this by invitation only event next year too. It is important to us that people get to know those in charge of minerals around the world and to see how we can better help them with donations, bequeaths and loaners. We can make great things happen simply by getting to know each other. |
Gail,
Pulling this back out of the depths of this Tucson photo-odyssey thread to thank you so much for hosting the "Meet the Curators" event -- it was wonderful to have more time to spend with other SMMP members after that afternoon's activities together and to meet more people in the mineral community in that context. I learned so much from other curators of collections large and small around the world and made many connections which are sure to be mutually beneficial...and just plain had fun. The Spann's hospitality, warmth and generosity is much appreciated!
Warmest regards,
Elise
PS: and thank you once again for recording and sharing so many images of the Tucson adventure!
