Hello all,
would someone know the specific locality (mine, vein or replacement body, level) or more than simply Charcas for the well crystallized, doubly terminated, amber colored , doubly terminated quartz (citrine) that came out years backs (i believe in early 2000) from Charcas.
Thanks

I believe that they all came into the U.S. through Benny Fenn, as did the one in my collection. If you know Benny, I suspect that he can give you the specifics. Unfortunately my label just says Charcas. _________________ John S. White

They did not all come in via Benny.... Mike New also brought in a bunch of these and they continue to trickle out, so it is probably Rey y Reyna. Benny is here at the Houston Show and I will ask him what he knows this morning. _________________ Siempre Adelante! |

The best lot that I ever brought out was personally collected over a weekend by an engineer. As they had just moved most mining out of the La Aurora Mine that year, it was probably the Rey y Reina. This was in 2003-2004
Another very good lot came several years before this and produced more crystals.

In order to be sure about the location, I drove to Charcas Tuesday. My source told me that they come from level 16, San Bartolo. He once worked there as a miner. This is where the Datolite also come from. Very few minerals were available but a few small citrine were found as well as some specimens of Datolite. A mine supplier I talked to in a restaurant confirmed that they are working in Level 16 now.
