I feel rather confident that your red crystals are spessartine. In Tucson I was fortunate in finding a nice kyanite with spessartine crystals perched upon it.

Very nice photos. Wish I had had them for our article in Rocks & Minerals. Perhaps the editor would use at least one of them in a letter to the editor.

Hi to everybody! Yes, two years ago I bought a rough and a cut piece in Munich at the Mineralientage. The rough piece I took has not the "V" gemination like this one, but the colour is a nice orange one. The locality is the same, Loliondo Tanzania.
