My fathers and my collection has taken us about 8 years to have what we have today; and it's still growing (see: www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=2546)
First, I'll post our Fluorescent rock collection (the rocks are under SW only) and then I'll post my small crystal collection.

Hi, a different kind of collection thread here on FMF - but why not :-) I used to collect fluorescent minerals, too. But that was long ago, so it's nice to see those colourful effects again!

Lenny,
Nice color combinations.
Could you please share your photographic methods for the fluorescent minerals?
Thanks,
George

How I take photos: I have a Nikon Rebel, I use a regular lens unless I'm taking pictures of a micro, than I use a macro lens. My set up is a cardboard box with a Super Bright for lighting. Why do I use a cardboard box? Because it gives truer colors than just photographing on a black material. I rarely take photos showing two or more rocks because the colors will be off. However, I will take pictures if the colors are the same; for example, a grouping of Hardys. The most important part of photographing fluorescent rocks is to put it on a tripod. If you try and hold the camera, the slightest movement will make it blurry. Also, you must adjust the white-balance for certain colors. That's my setup, once you get used to it, it's really easy.
Note: Esperites are by far the hardest to photograph, if you can take a good photo of them, then you can photograph anything.

Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't put anything up here in a while, I've actually had to expand one display, and create a whole new one. I didn't realize I had so many rocks! Anyways, I actually made a facebook page with all of my rocks posted there. So if you want to see the rest of my collection, please go on facebook and search Gorignak Rocks. I figured I'd save the time and not repost about 100 rocks. Also, for the people that do not know, Gorignak is from a hilarious movie called "Galaxy Quest".
