I don't mind. I know, every artist has its own technic and the material is different. Steve uses a black background, I take a white one. In the German Mineralatlas I hear already different voices, so I can say some people like drawings and some like painting. Everybody has its own liking.
If the other artists agree, to have a voting, why not? And if the members agree to vote, why not?

When I read what Ed wrote, I think I misunderstood the voting once more. It seems to me now that the members shall vote, which mineral the artists should paint, is that right?

If you are looking for someone to offer up a specimen for painting, this one might be a good candidate. It has nice 3-dimensionality.

We had some voting in the past in the Spanish side and we always had troubles with it. I believe that the best is to do the project but without competition, just by the pleasure to do it and offer a different vision of the same specimen by different artists. BTW, maybe Susan Robinson from Rock & Minerals could like the idea and the final result... ;-)

Also, as it is almost impossible to find a specimen which pleases every artist I propose simplify and use the first specimen proposed, the one suggested for Turbo:

I think this vesuvianite from the Ploum gallery that Jordi just posted would be an excellent candidate.

I send a message to Ploum and he said it is not a problem if we use his image in our artistic study.

Here is a link he gave me with the best resolution: https://www.alpinismeetmineraux.fr/mineralogie/macro/supermacro/supermacro1009.htm

And here is the full gallery he sent me:

Hallo, very good Ed, I checked the list and found 3 favorite fotos:
list 35 above left, list 92 down left, list 18 right in the middle.
I wonder which foto you and the others will prefer.

I am happy to try any. I like to challenge myself anyway. And if I don't like the result, I throw it away :o)

In many art courses, students are asked to all paint the same subject. Surely there must be others who would like to participate?

By the way, I had not seen Ploum's gallery before. Stunning photos!

Regards
Steve

I am happy to try the vesuvianite suggested. But I have eye surgery scheduled for the 10th. If I can, I will try this weekend. If not, I will have to wait a couple of weeks.

It has been too hot here to paint. 41°C yesterday!

Regards
Steve

Hello Steve, if you can paint at the weekend, please let us know (I can try to send you rain and clouds and 5° C). Otherwise we will wait, until your eyes are healthy. I hope your surgery will end well.
