Hi Daniel. I would love to see some close-ups of the blue quartz, if possible. The colour is truly amazing!

A truly remarkable quartz. I have never seen a quartz with such an intense blue color. Has this locality produced many such crystals?

Thank you for placing more photos of the blue quartz. It is unusual, amazing, and I suppose quite rare. I would'nt mind finding a pocket of those.

Hi Dani!
Nice blue quartz specimens! I have added the mineral and the locality. Please send me a pm with the dimensions and I add them to the pictures also.
John, at this quarry it has been found beautiful blue quartz specimens as Dani has showed. You can see a selection at Spanish FMF Gallery
Regards,
Juan H

I had a look at the Spanish link; a whole family of blue quartz, but few with such an intense colour as Jose's. Can someone tell me what causes this 'rare' blue colouring?

Hi Pierre!
The blue coloring of quartz specimens from la Juanona is due to a blue amphibole. Colleagues from the Spanish Forum analyzed some specimens with the result that this amphibole belongs to the magnesioriebeckite-rebieckite series and is closer to the latter one. As Alfredo Petrov said, nowadays the analysis and identification of amphiboles is too difficult. To resolve if the aphibole is riebeckite or magnesio-riebeckite we will need more in depth analysis and as yet (as far I know) they are not doing it
There is a really good thread in the Spanish Forum explaining it (sorry it is in Spanish):

Hi Supertxango. Thank you for the reply. I am also registered on the Spanish Forum. You can set it on English and it is automatically translated for you. I will follow that link.
