Hi All,
Would love to participate...and being rather footloose and fancy-free these days (part of the huge lay-off that GIA had to make), I'll be at the Tucson show the whole time, so any time and any place is good.
Cheers,
Mark |

Oh NO Mark! I am so sorry to hear about your GIA predicament!
On the other hand, it will be good to see you at Tucson just having fun? _________________ Minerals you say? Why yes, I'll take a dozen or so... |

Thanks, Gail.
Doing fine though...what's life without a bit of adventure. Was panning for gold yesterday...not going to make a living at that though... :-)

Mark - Very sorry to hear about the GIA reduction. With your computer skills, hopefully you can find an alternate way of paying the bills? Incidently, I met you at the Del Mar fair last summer, and I'm the one to whom you donated the Hawaian lava for my museum display.
May I make a suggestion - since most people will be in Tucson for the main show, how about meeting after the main show closes on Saturday the 14th, just inside the doors? That would give us a chance for some conversation followed by groups forming & going off to dinner.
You don't have to like my proposal, I'm just trying to get the ball rolling again! :) _________________ Linda St-Cyr |

Not a bad idea but it won't work for me because I am leaving Saturday morning. Perhaps we can do it Friday instead. Upstairs where the ticket booths are might be a good place because it is carpeted and quiet. Alternatively, outside on the lower level where there are tables and chair is also a possibility, assuming that the weather cooperates. It does sometimes rain in Tucson and it may be cold and windy. _________________ John S. White

Okay, since Jordi is an uncompromising slave driver and makes me do all the work, I have agreed to take on the responsibility of arranging a meeting place and time in Tucson for fans of this Forum. After quite a bit of research and with help from Peter Megaw I would like to propose that the event occur at 4:00 PM on either Thursday, Feb. 12 (the first day of the club show) or on Wednesday, Feb. 11 (set-up day for the club show). The best location that I have been able to come up with is the excellent Mexican restaurant across the street on the south side of the convention center, El Minuto. This is a very short walk from the convention center, and by 4:00 PM everyone should be readty for a break and a margarita or cerveza and some snacks, all graciously paid for by Jordi.
So please let us know which of the two dates you prefer, if you plan to attend. _________________ John S. White

Arriving mid-afternoon on the 11th, either day is fine for me.

Sorry can't make it until 6:30 Wednesday, can't make it Thursday. But thanks for organizing and thanks to Jordi for being so gracious. |

I think that 6:30 would be easier and better for everybody (including me) because the Main Show is there and very intense, so maybe people will prefer a little bit late to don't miss appointments / deals related with the Main Show?

I would prefer to stay with 4:00 PM as 6:30 is so late that it will interfere with the dinner plans for many of us. _________________ John S. White

We have our MAD dinner on Thursday night so, like Maryanne, I cannot make Thursday.
( MAD is the Mineralogical Associatin of Dallas )
I do know where that restaurant is and it is really easy to walk to, so that helps make things easier.
I do believe I can make Wed. at the time John has suggested. _________________ Minerals you say? Why yes, I'll take a dozen or so... |

Thank you Jordi and John for your efforts. I am also looking forward to meeting you all. El Minuto is an excellent choice as I rediscovered it at last year's TGMS. Awaiting the firm day and time. _________________ Linda Smith |
