Michael, that last aquamarine is a real gem and your photography is superb as always.

Thanks Don. I thought you might attend the Denver Show, so looked for you. I would have introduced myself if I saw you.

Michael:
I don't understand how you can say that you are not successful in photographing gem crystals. Your photo of the topaz is one of the very best images of that mineral that I have ever seen. Wish you had tried to locate me in Denver. Perhaps we can meet in Tucson. I want to meet Don as well.

John,
Well, I guess for me, creating a successful image is measured against photographs by many of the talented photographers for Mineralogical Record, Rocks & Minerals, and other noteworthy mineral publications. I tend to be my own worst critic - but that's how we improve. I certainly appreciate your comment regarding my topaz photo, and take it as a big compliment. Actually that image was taken a couple of days earlier than the beryl, and I more or less stumbled onto the setup. Since I was happy with the result, I experimented further with the new lighting setup and was finally able to produce relatively consistent results.
I would be my pleasure to meet you sometime in the future. Perhaps, at Jordi's get together in Tucson, if space allows.
Michael

Hi Michael. Your photography is excellent and so are your specimens, especially the Mimetite (TN 251) and Pyromorphite (1092). Do you mind sharing your light source info. with us?
