Dr.Lum, looking at all the photographs you have posted of the Tucson Mineral Lecture Series at the Pueblo Gem & Mineral Show, of our showroom in the International Fine Mineral Building at the same show and of the dinner reception we hosted for you and Gwen at Ali Baba's Restaurant, brings back fond memories.
At this dinner reception, Arif and I were also honored by the attendance of our other close friends, Greg & Ginny Toomey, Bryan Swoboda & his Bluecap Production crew, Dave Wilber, LTC (Retd) Jerry Savage, Federico Pezzotta, Federico Barlocher and Jim & Linda Beach
Tucson 2014 is already history and your detailed report is a gift for all those who could not attend and a gift for those that could. Thank you very much for this.
There were many highlights, for Arif and I. The opportunity to welcome you and Gwen to Tucson and the joy to be able to introduce you both to so many of our wonderful friends. Another was to welcome Gail and Jim Spann to the Pueblo Gem & Mineral Show and the tremendous success of all of the Tucson Mineral lecture Series.
For 2015, we will have the honor to present Dr. John White, the former curator of the prestigious Smithsonian Institution as one of our many guest speakers.
Thank you again for all the dedication, time and effort you have put into your 2014 Tucson Show Report. We all look forward to your 2015 Tucson Show Report.

Hello Aisha and Arif,
Thank you for your nice comments on my 2014 Tucson Show Report. I think I told you before the show that I was not going to do a report because, well, frankly, it was a lot of work and took so much time.
However, I since I spent most of my budget in the first hour or so after going into the dealers' rooms, I said "what the heck, I'll take some pictures." I had a good game plan but just poor execution.
I think this line in your letter to me "For 2015, we will have the honor to present Dr. John White, the former curator of the prestigious Smithsonian Institution," should read "we have the honor to present Dr. John White, the PRESTIGIOUS former curator of the Smithsonian Institution."
Warm regards,
Don

Our fearless leader. The driving wheel behind the mix of interests, talents and obsessions expressed on this forum. Thanks Jordi. Thanks John. Thanks Pete. And thanks mostly to the participants, good citizens of the mineral community.
Great coverage Don, glad you shot through your budget early.

They are indeed... And capturing the price tag requires almost a camera with a panorama mode!

Tobi, Gerard, Vic, I appreciate your comments. Thank you.
I asked Danny Trinchillo if I could take pictures and he kindly gave me his permission. What he said was that he did not want anyone to do a systematic cataloging of his specimens. My problem was that if I took the picture without the label, I might not remember either the mineral or the location when it came time to post on FMF. That has happened to me many times even when I get home with the mineral specimen itself. The price just happens to be at the top of the label.
I told Danny that I was going to post an online show report. He has always been friendly and cordial to me.
I think Danny is justifiably proud of the fine minerals he has to offer as he should be as most of them are world class as you can see from the pictures. My pictures don't do justice to the specimens as most of them are much, much better in person.
Anyhow this is probably going to be my first and last Tucson Show. My body has not recovered from the jet lag from the time difference between Arkansas and Arizona. :-)
Don

Hello Don,
It's really unfortunate, because your report was exciting and enjoyable for those who will never go to Tucson.
Many thanks,
Roger.

Don, my comment was certainly not aimed to criticize the quality of your photos (they are just superb!) and the field of view of your camera. Am just not used to see so many digits openly tagged on so many minerals.
By also capturing the prices, your photos help to put into perspective the breadth of our hobby.
Maybe it's time for me to discover the special world of Tucson!
Thanks for having shared these photos.

Gerard, I completely understand what you are saying. I hope you can get to Tucson in the near future.
Roger, I have some more photos to post. Arizona is just one time zone away. I was making a joke about the jet lag. Probably more age related.
