I really enjoy those three Sapo Mine Tourmaline specimens….especially the second picture (SapoQtzTourmaline1.jpg). I also enjoy the fluorites from Dal’negorsk as well…very neat.

Indeed. The aqua specimen reminds me a lot of the Erongo Aquamarines. What is the black mineral Am, Schorl? Very nice.

I shoot the minerals on a glass tabletop. I sometimes use LED lamps for lighting, but most of the time employ a number of flash units.
I manipulate the lighting and contrast to bring out the depth and micro detail in each mineral.
At least that's what I try to do. I think it works most of the time.

Do you then use software to remove the background and soften the outline? If so, which package?

I do really like the fluorites, great specimens

James - I don't often replace the background. If I do a replacement I use photoshop.

I thought you might on some photos, but was not certain. I tried it and was not very pleased with the result so leave mine as they are.
