I am not sure if you are familiar with the filters in Adobe Photoshop, there is a filter called defused glow (popular for wedding photographers) the glow in your photos often remind me of this glow, do you have any idea why this is happening in your photo's and would there be any way of avoiding it? I often look at your photos and they are brilliantly sharp and dimensional it is just that glow for me that stands in the way of calling perfection.

Hmm.....hard for me to explain in English. French people don't understand me...

It's possible that "glow" increases with my method because I work on primary image with a variable magnification. I do not have time to study the difference between my method and the classic method. I have done a time and my method was better.

I can do all methods but I prefer mine. Fast, simple and no motorisation. Low mechanical precision, very high optical precision.

Optical precision is 0.4 nanometer for 50x.

I'm very alone in this technique.... and now I don't try more. I do and that's all.

Sorry if can't explain better. Ideas are in my head.

My guess is that given the high magnification produced by Fred´s setup, diffraction is the culprit for those glows that Reinhardt mentioned.
