|
|
A few Chinese minerals from the past 2 years...
Mineral: | Fluorite with Quartz |
Locality: | Ruyuan Fluorite Mine, Ruyuan, Shaoguan Prefecture, Guangdong Province, China
|
Dimensions: | 97 x 87 x 67 mm |
Description: |
A group of highly-lustrous, light-green Fluorite crystals to 16 mm is richly coated with numerous sharp, whitish Quartz points to 18 x 10 mm. These Fluorites are highly transparent, and the cubes have dodectahedral modifications. Small white grains of Quartz are included within these very glassy Fluorites, and some seem to be preferentially oriented. It is an excellent specimen, supposedly from a small 2013 find, and damage free.
The Quartz shows strong orange fluorescence in LW. |

Mineral: | Quartz (pseudo Calcite) with Quartz |
Locality: | Huanggang Mines, Hexigten Banner (Kèshíkèténg Qí), Chifeng (Ulanhad), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
|
Dimensions: | 173 x 122 x 63 mm |
Description: |
Lustrous, rich-medium-green, opaque, tabular blades of Quartz pseudomorphing Calcite to 62 mm across. Several of the weird green Quartz crystals to 14 x 11 mm across, erroneously called beta-Quartz from this locality, are perched on the reverse. In excelllent condition, and a near complete floater. |

Mineral: | Fluorite with Calcite |
Locality: | Huanggang Mines, Hexigten Banner (Kèshíkèténg Qí), Chifeng (Ulanhad), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China
|
Dimensions: | 94 x 89 x 61 mm |
Description: |
This fine stalactite of lustrous, translucent, lilac-purple, rounded crystals of Fluorite to 11 mm across is accented with blades of off-white Calcite to 10 mm across. This lilac color is uncommon for this Inner Mongolia locality. In excellent condition, it displays well from all sides. |

Mineral: | Fluorite on Quartz |
Locality: | Wutong Mine, Liubao, Cangwu, Wuzhou Prefecture, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China
|
Dimensions: | 106 x 79 x 48 mm |
Description: |
Intergrown, complex crystals of light-green, translucent Fluorite to 39 mm across are perched on highly-lustrous, bright-white, opaque Quartz points to 10 mm across. The Quartz matrix is largely recrystallized all around. In excellent condition, this is an unique sample from this Rhodochrosite locality not well known for producing nice Fluorite specimens. |

Mineral: | Spessartine on Orthoclase |
Locality: | Wushan Spessartine prospects, Tongbei, Yunxiao, Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, China
|
Dimensions: | 89 x 60 x 45 mm |
Description: |
Lustrous, gemmy-orange Spessartine garnets to 3.5 mm across are perched on lustrous, cream-colored crystals of Microcline. The most prominent Microcline is 18 x 17 x 15 mm in size, and is somewhat embayed and corroded, yielding an unusual and attractive form. Nice aesthetics and free of damage. |

Here are 2 unusual Scheelites from the famous Chinese locality.
Mineral: | Scheelite |
Locality: | Mount Xuebaoding, Pingwu, Mianyang Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China
|
Dimensions: | 97 x 41 x 37 mm |
Description: |
Lustrous, golden crystals of Scheelite to 19 mm are stacked in parallel fashion to form a stalactitic specimen. The Scheelites are partly gemmy and are accented with silvery blades of Muscovite. |

Mineral: | Scheelite |
Locality: | Mount Xuebaoding, Pingwu, Mianyang Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China
|
Dimensions: | 143 x 102 x 102 mm |
Description: |
Large, single crystal of Scheelite measuring 143 x 102 x 102 mm, with large, flat orange-colored faces on one side and more yellowish, multiple faces on the other side. Tips of the Scheelite are very gemmy orange, and small, clear, thinly-flattened, tabular Quartz are scattered on the faces. There are no points of contact, making this a completely intact floater crystal. |
