how do you explain the red faces on the galena ? (outside reflection or something else )

Hello Philippe,

Thanks for your comment about the Wulfenite.

The red on the Galena is probably an outside reflection.

Don

Hello Pablo,

Perhaps there are no twins in this specimen. I will try to verify and post at a later date.

Please delete the entire post. They are not good pictures.

Sincerely,

Don

Thanks Tobi. I had you in mind when I posted this Galena but the pictures are not the best.

Regards,

Don

Please note that any red color in these picture is caused by a reflection. There is no red on the specimen.

Hello Pablo,

Perhaps there are no twins in this specimen. I will try to verify and post at a later date.

Please delete the entire post. They are not good pictures.

Sincerely,

Don

Wow!! You have added wonderful pictures! Looking at the edge of the crystals, you can check somen of them are in fact twins: those ones that show equatorial symmetry plane. However those tabular crystals without equatorial plane are in fact cuboctahedral single cyrstals (e. g. IMG_7472.JPG & IMG_7475.JPG, bottom left). You can have a look at some pictures in the Spanish Forum: https://www.foro-minerales.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=125195#125195 .

Hello Reverend Cantos,

I posted so many close-up pictures of the Galena specimen for two reasons. The first reason was because you asked for them but mainly for my own edification and education. I do not know how to draw the lines on the pictures like you do on your posts to point out the faces. Is it possible for you to draw red lines on my pictures to point out the faces of the twins?

I apologize for the artifact caused by the red reflection.

Thank you for your time and patience.

Sincerely,

Don
