Hola Lluis
I agree that the original Blu Tack works well, but the problem is that there are so many new versions around that are not great and leave a residue.

It works well, and withstand in time (in a land that is not exactly cold, and very humid, where things tend to deteriorate very quickly....)
I bought one time a white one that is also good. Was same price as the blue one
The grey ones were in pieces I bought, and are awful.
But I suppose that bad brands could be in any colour.... It is just a question to use a pigment or another,... And done shade tacks have, by sure is the less in total cost..... |

Completely agreed with you James!
I have found all ones, and some are (well, were... Already cleaned completely with what I said... Solvents, well, could work, but if you are not chemist, to buy the one needed could be another nightmare (I suppose, "Nightmare II, the quest for the elusive solvent"...)
And that it works and is not too bad for health, well, .....
But I clean the grey putty stickier soft sh** without letting any residue.
And I crushed two Getchell Mine specimens (a realgar and an orpiment) attached with hot glue (simply matrix was too soft/brittle). Those the ones that hurt me more,,,, The rest, well, maybe more than two dozens....
with best wishes

Have you considered freezing it ? either place an ice-cube on it or put the specimen in the freezer for a short spell. This is what you do do remove chewing gum from things. The gum/tack just breaks/lifts off. |
