An classic chalcocite from one of New England's most important localities. The Bristol Copper Mine operated from 1837 to 1953 and during the mid to late 1800s, produced some of the the finest chalcocites in the United States.

Michael, your thread full of excellent photos is about to reach one million views, I guess in just a matter of hours. And this is really a lot. Have my warmest congratulations.

Many thanks Carles. It has been a real pleasure to participate in the Forum, and this thread has allowed me to "connect" with so many interesting people who share in this great hobby. Kudos to Jordi for making it possible.

Thank very much Vic.
Though my collection focus has been mostly southern Illinois, Romania, Bulgaria, Dal'negorsk, and more recently the Huanggang mines, I still have a soft spot for New England minerals since that is where this crazy obsession all started.
Here's one that you are no doubt familiar with.
Mineral: | Babingtonite on Prehnite |
Locality: | Lane Quarry, Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, USA | |
|
Dimensions: | 4.1 x 6.3 cm |
Description: |
Lustrous black babingtonite crystals to 1.0 cm on lime green prehnite. |

Thank you everyone. When I started my collection thread, I never thought that it would develop into what it has become. It has been a joy to share my collection with you and hope to see more of your collections in the future.
