1. An Orthoclase of which the vendor said "Ein Stüfchen wie aus dem Bilderbuch!" (a textbook specimen).
2. From Russia something special : a 2 cm Bismuth nugget, an uncommon form for this native element. On Mindat there's only one other piece from this locale.
3. Plumbogummite from China. In the right corner of the photo there are some crystals (crystal balls) that look blue and are different than the botryoidal Plumbogummite. The person I bought this from thinks they are Scorodite. I don't think so, because I can't find this combination anywhere. Besides I think that those tiny crystals are not blue but white and transparent and sit on blue Plumbogummite balls.

It looks like Plumbogummite from Yangshuo Mine Rob...

Thank you Jordi for your reply and to put me in the right direction of what this mysterious (at least for me) specimen exactly is. If I understand you well, than you say the whole specimen is Plumbogummite? If so, how can we correct this (mineral name + location)?

Kind regards,
Rob

Rob Schnerr wrote:

The matrix is mostly quartz and many plumbogummite specimens from Yangshuo are combined with pyromorphite which is covered or replaced by the plumbogummite. But these specimens often show greenish-yellow "rests" of pyromorphite. I think your specimen could really be "just" plumbogummite on quartz-based matrix from Yangshuo Mine.

Jordi and/or the moderators can. I think they will do it when they read this. The more because it is really distinctive that this is a specimen of plumbogummite from Yangshuo.

Regards
Tobi

1 and 2. It was a bit of a hype in 2015 : Azurite from Laos.

Thanks Tobi for your reaction. My wife picked this one, she always has an eye for aesthetic minerals. Since we restarted to collect in 2015 I have converted to this “school” (with some hesitation). In the past (70’s) I just focused on good crystals. If there were also a couple of imperfections, so be it. If you don’t want to see them, don’t look at them. But as I said I made a turn.

But the next piece has indeed some broken crystals, but this time for both of us it wasn’t a reason to not buy it. Judge for yourself.

1. Quartz with Hematite
2. A Pyrrhotite from Dal’negorsk
3. A very intense colored Malachite from the DR Congo

Very nice specimens, Rob, all of them! Some broken crystals are normal on most of the larger Jinlong specimens, completely undamaged specimens with not a single broken crystal are very rare. I think it's not a problem on a specimen like yours which is still very aesthetic though some quartzes might be broken.

Thanks Tobi.

Some more ...

1. A beautiful combination from Peru, with three well crystalized minerals. You have to look close, so three close ups are added.

2. From India not just a funny Zeolite-duck, but also a not very common combination of Fluorapophyllite-(K) and Natrolite.
