PostPosted: Sep 21, 2021 16:58    Post subject: Quartz and Epidote with possible hedenbergite from Imilchil, Morocco

Hi Everyone,
I bought several Quartz/ Epidote combos at the recent Denver show, and was hoping someone might be able to help me ID the third mineral present. From my viewpoint it really reminds me of hedenbergite, but I’m just not 100% sure. What do you guys think? The Quartz with inclusions appears to be hedenbergite as well instead of Epidote. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
-Adam

I would agree that actinolite is a very good possibility. Hopefully some others might be able to chime in.

As we have said several times before, we are not magicians and with a blurry photo of something apparently coated or pseudomorphized by what looks like an amphibole and without further proof or an analysis it would be a mistake to confirm or decline what it is.

There are Hedenbergites in Imilchil (analyzed) and some extraordinary ones, but that does not mean that this piece would be Hedenbergite, sorry.

Hi Jordi,
I apologize for the photo quality. I had trouble shrinking the photo down to the correct size to get it to upload here. I’m not super tech savvy. I took some much cleaner closeup pictures but they became grainy when I converted them. I’ll work on uploading some better photos. I appreciate all the help!

It looks to me as an amphibole, maybe Actinolite, but impossible to be sure without a proper analysis.

Why don't you use 'uralite'? ( https://www.mindat.org/min-4098.html )
It is a very useful term for these cases...
