Hi all,
last sunday i met the curator of the Marburg Museum, Professor Peter Masberg, at the Marburg mineral show and we finally planned to put my specimens on display next tuesday. So on tuesday morning i will transport them to the museum and i hope that you are interested in some photos of the packing, the transport and - of course - the setup of the display in the museum. This won't be a very big thing like the 53 cases Gail had to fill for the East Coast Show, but maybe a report about such a smaller exhibition will also be welcome.
It will be 31 specimens and three paintings that are on display for presumably two or three months in a showcase near the museum's entrance. I hope that i can take some suitable photos on tuesday which i can post here ...
Glückauf!

I congratulate you, Tobias. It's a privilege to have one's collection at a public museum.
After exposing it (on Tuesday), please, take some shots and post them here as soon as possible for all of us to see.
I've just come back from Munich and am going to bed right now. It's really late.

Thank you all for your congratulations. This exhibition is a great honour to me and i'm very proud to show my collection in the museum that infected me once with the mineral virus ;-) Here's a drawing i made and that i will add to the display as a little homage to my wonderful hometown museum.

And here are my companions for this weekend: Cardboard boxes, bubble wrap and old newspapers. This work actually won't be fun, but my pleasant anticipation will help me to enjoy it :-)

Good afternoon, Tobias
My congratulations also for you drawing skills!
Did you ever though to paint minerals?
I am a fan of Wendel Wilson watercolours (although I have no idea how and where I can buy any....), and if there is any other artist, well, possibilities will be increased :-)
With best wishes
Lluís

Hi Lluís,
I used to draw a lot of things: People, dogs, buildings, surreal compositions, but - i don't know why - never minerals. Now that you made me think about that, it is strange, isn't it? I've been into minerals since i was young boy, and i also used to paint and draw since then, but i never made mineral artworks ... Well, i think i'll change that soon ;-)
But thank you for your kind comment on my drawing skills, though they are poor compared to a painting genius like Wendell Wilson. If anybody doesn't know who we are talking about: Here's his MinRec site featuring a lot of his paintings and drawings:

Thanks for your interest, Lluís, it is off-topic, but i can give you some impressions of my drawing skills. Here are two of the dog portraits i made some years ago:

Yes, off topic, but WOW! Tobias, you have a very good talent for art. It looks like the dog on the right may have been drawn first and the left one a bit later. Too bad this forum cannot be about art also.
Bravo!
