I have always understood that here are no mines at Santa Clara del Cobre (I can recall none but I have not been there for 40 years), I wonder where the copper specimens comes from.

The specimen is from Dennis Beals and his label indicates that the mine is near Santa Clara del Cobre.

Santa Clara del Cobre was the ore processing centre (smelter)

Google translate with a few corrections:
Most of the copper mines in operation were in two jurisdictions: in Zitácuaro with the headquarters in Maravatío, and in Inguarán and its surroundings with the headquarters in Tancítaro or Ario. There were also some mines scattered in Uruapan

So it is possibly from near Maravatío, Tancítaro/Ario or Urapan and was then acquired in Santa Clara del Cobre where the smelter was. I guess they are all 'near' Santa Clara del Cobre (I visited them all, back in the 1970s)
I assume we will never know the exact locality, except 'Michoacan, Mexico', but we know they are not from close to Santa Clara del Cobre itself

Figure 2 shows how widespread copper mining was in the area that is now Michoacan and the text says
"In neighboring jurisdictions, such as Charo, Maravatio, Tlaipujahua, Jasso and Zamora, there was also a mastery of copper mining"
