A lovely new addition to my collection:
Though I have a focus on German minerals and a special love for fluorite there's no fluorite from Saxony in my current collection. I had several fluorite specimens from Erzgebirge in the past, but all of them were rather mediocre pieces that I sold or traded at some point. But some weeks ago I got a new showcase especially dedicated to German minerals and I hoped to find a nice fluorite from Saxony. I'm really happy that it worked and that I could finally add a beautiful fluorite from the maybe most famous of all German mining areas. It is not easy to capture the piece on camera because the crystals are very lustrous, but I think these photos are quite ok and do the specimen justice.
I should mention that this is not an old piece but from a newer find from around 2016. But I love that shiny yellow fluorite. I mean, when you are into German minerals and into fluorite, you have no choice but to love a yellow fluorite from Erzgebirge ;-)

Congratulations on a beautiful fluorite Tobi. Color and luster are wonderful. Maybe you can show us a picture of your new showcase dedicated to German Minerals?

Thank you, Michael and Carles, I'm glad you like my new fluorite, I love it too :-)
Michael Shaw wrote: | Maybe you can show us a picture of your new showcase dedicated to German Minerals? | Sure. The two recent pieces from Bavaria and Saxony still have to find a place but I can take some photos soon. Don't expect too much in terms of quantity, it's just a smaller cabinet with only 24 pieces. Photos will follow soon ...

Thank you, James. This piece is for sure a wonderful addition, especially now after installing my third collection showcase only for German minerals. Such a juicy fluorite eyecandy from the Erzgebirge enhances the value and the beauty of this small but quite good selection of specimens from my mineral-rich home country.
Photos will follow ... I have not forgotten it, Michael ;-)

But I think these photos give an impression of my new installation. Maybe some closer photos of some specimens will follow ...

Tobi, thanks for the tour of your new cabinet dedicated to German minerals. To be surrounded by your mineral collection while you sit at your desk must give you immense satisfaction/inspiration. You know I love those galenas, but also the pyromorphite, mimetite, rhodochrosite, and new fluorite really stand out.

What beautiful showcases and room decorations. I'm full of envy. You and your family must be proud of them. And they're only the German specimens.
Congratulations!

This is my collector's dream that came true.

Congratulations! | I know your collection, dear Carles, and I don't think you have to envy this ;-) But the German minerals are only the 25 pieces in the new showcase. The other ~100 pieces in the two are international. And yes, my wife and our two kids appreciate the little mineral museum in the living room. It was important for me to create a setting that my family likes. Wouldn't feel right if this was just Tobi's nerdy hobby corner. But they all really like it.
Dany Mabillard wrote: | Hello Tobi, Very beautiful collection and well presented too. Congratulations, Tobi. Dany. | Thank you, Dany. It's a good and important feedback that other experienced serious collectors appreciate this setting that much!

I found another new piece for the Germany display and this amazing German classic demands some space and a stable base. I'm glad I found such a nice and impressive specimen for a very reasonable price, another collector reduced his collection and had this for sale. You still find some Dreislar barytes on the German market but not so many of the good ones.

Yes, it is too large, but I own a specimen (not barite but pyrite) that weighs 3.9 kg, and I'm happy with it.

And as long as you can lift it with one hand, it's not too heavy ;-) Here's my own photo of this beautiful baryte / chalcopyrite piece that has instantly become one of the centerpieces in the new showcase:
