Michael, Carles and Dany, thank you so much for your comments!

Tobi, thanks for the tour of your new cabinet dedicated to German minerals. To be surrounded by your mineral collection while you sit at your desk must give you immense satisfaction/inspiration. You know I love those galenas, but also the pyromorphite, mimetite, rhodochrosite, and new fluorite really stand out.
I do know you love those galenas ;-) And yes, it is an immense satisfaction and inspiration. This is my collector's dream that came true.

What beautiful showcases and room decorations. I'm full of envy. You and your family must be proud of them. And they're only the German specimens.
Congratulations!
I know your collection, dear Carles, and I don't think you have to envy this ;-) But the German minerals are only the 25 pieces in the new showcase. The other ~100 pieces in the two are international. And yes, my wife and our two kids appreciate the little mineral museum in the living room. It was important for me to create a setting that my family likes. Wouldn't feel right if this was just Tobi's nerdy hobby corner. But they all really like it.

Thank you, Dany. It's a good and important feedback that other experienced serious collectors appreciate this setting that much!

I wasn't sure if the literature will stay there and now it is decided, the books and magazines have to move again. I found another new piece for the Germany display and this amazing German classic demands some space and a stable base. I'm glad I found such a nice and impressive specimen for a very reasonable price, another collector reduced his collection and had this for sale. You still find some Dreislar barytes on the German market but not so many of the good ones.

Yes, it is too large, but I own a specimen (not barite but pyrite) that weighs 3.9 kg, and I'm happy with it.

I agree, if you're happy with it, it's the right specimen for you. And as long as you can lift it with one hand, it's not too heavy ;-) Here's my own photo of this beautiful baryte / chalcopyrite piece that has instantly become one of the centerpieces in the new showcase:

Thank you, Carles!

I can't continue with contrast, nonetheless I think this new galena is quite nice: The specimen consists of a small block of rock on which several galena octahedrons have grown. The galenas have the typical shape and surface structure for which this Polish locality is known for. There a quite many of these galenas on the market but this one caught my eye, I love the overall shape and the crystals are quite large (up to 2,5 cm) for the locality.

Actually I don't collect azurite (I have only one Morenci specimen in my collection), but this one caught my eye. This specimen from Black Forest in southern Germany consists of vivid-blue azurite that has a wonderful contrast to the matrix. A new addition from the Marburg mineral show that took place yesterday.

 Mineral: Azurite
 Locality:
Neubulach, Calw, Calw District, Karlsruhe Region, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
 Dimensions: Specimen size 8 x 7,5 cm

And another German quartz specimen that caught my eye: This specimen from Saarland is quite good and large for the locality and consists of a clear quartz crystal with some smaller crystals attached, parts of the specimen have a reddish hue due to some hematite coating. A nice addition for a collector who loves quartz and tries to assemble some nice minerals from Germany.
