Hi Jess,
lovely specimens and thanks for sharing. Regarding the vesuvianite (titanite) .. i am with John, Jordi etc. .. looks quite like a Fushan vesuvianite. I had some of those in my stock and they are quite typical,
cheers
Roger

Thank you everyone for your help with identifying the vesuvianite! Today I did a density test on it, and the result was that it was definitely vesuvianite.

That's very resourceful, congratulations! I wonder how many other members of this forum have ever done a density test. (Perhaps more than I think....) There are many simple and powerful tests that a collector can do without fancy equipment, but we all tend to look for someone to do x-ray studies or other high-tech stuff! Great if you can get it, but you're not helpless if you cannot!

Thank you Pete.
Here are some more photos, these are all self-collected.

Calcite crystals from National Limestone Quarry, Pennsylvania. The crystals have an interesting habit but I'm not good enough at crystallography to know about them. 8x6x4 cm and the largest crystal is 2 cm long. |
