This is one of my favourite Galena specimen.

13*10*8 cm.

I purchased this specimen a couple of years ago from a befriended collector.
It is one of the most beautiful specimens of Galena that I have ever seen.

It has hollow polyhedrons and elongated hollow Crystals.

As a friend of this mineral, I really like these three specimens, all of them wonderful galena specimens, simply stunning!
And as a personal note, as I said before in the pyromorphite thread: I think overall images where we can see the whole specimens would do the specimens more justice than the photos with the cropped frames. Just an idea, but in my opinion such great specimens would deserve it :)

Regards,
Tobi

Mineral: Galena and Marcasite

Possibly, Viburnum Trend, Reynolds Co., Missouri, United States
This is a very nice group of cubo-octahedral Galena crystals, the largest with yellow-metallic marcasite crystals,

A more likely location would be the Tri-State District of Oklahoma/Missouri/Kansas. The cube-octahedral overgrowths are a trademark of this district. If there is a bit of matrix attached anywhere on the specimen, that would also give you some clues. Specimens from the Tri-State District occurred on fine-grained gray chert while those from the Viburnum Trend occur on dolostone.
