Well, we visited Deming, New Mexico on Sunday for the annual Rockhound Roundup and had a blast. Many of the dealers, by the way, made comments about having "Tucson prices" on their minerals still and we could take off up to half - hmmmmm. There are always fantastic New Mexico and Arizona minerals to be found, but Mexican minerals (and lapidary stuff, if you are into that) is really what this show is about. Caitlyn was able to add some odds and ends to her collection, including an Uruguayan amethyst and two very nice single 2 inch amethyst crystals from Amatitlan, Mexico. She also bought a Sparta, Illinois pyrite dollar (as we all did - $5 each was a bargain!) Dylan added a nice light green Chinese fluorite and a limpid green fluorite from Naica (out of a flat of Naica fluorite I bought - more later). He also added the Sparta pyrite, a pyrite "ball" from China, a thumbnail Navajun pyrite in matrix, and a small cube from "somewhere" - in addition to a few other small things.I was able to pick up a half flat of stunning clear discoidal calcites (to 2 cm) on matrix from the Ojuela Mine, Mexico, an 8 inch hemimorphite/mimetite combo from Ojuela, a nice Abasolo Mine (Rodeo) small cab. Creedite, 5 thumbnail groups of Amatitlan amethyst, a great celadonite-included Heulandite group from India, as well as a 10 inch apophyllite/stilbite group from there as well, a nice 3 inch Naica, Mexico anhydrite, and a 3 inch Tetrahedrite and Quartz on Rhodochrosite from Huaron, Peru. Did better there than in Tucson!!! Oh and the Naica Fluorite flat - I checked them out well before buying them - they were dusty but not oiled. Got them home and went to wash the dust off, and some of them fell apart, seems the matrix was some kind of carbon rich, crumbly rock, oh well - lesson learned!!! Still ended up with a dozen nice pieces! I posted this on Mindat as well, and will try to get photos up later.

Yeah, finally one more who shows not only pictures of several specimens but some impressions of a whole display and thus of his style of arranging a collection. Looks good :-)
