True...

BTW, these Calcites are not "manganoan". When analyzed they doesn't shows manganese.
They are pink for some reason, but not by the presence of manganese.

The calcite from Peru I picked up 13 years ago at the Denver show. My wife approved of that one when I bought it home....

First up for this week is a couple of New Zealand quartz specimens from Tararu Creek, Thames NZ,

Two large crystals, frosty but lusterous with a heavy overgrowth of secondary crystals. This is far above average for NZ quartz.

A slender crystal approx 5cm long with heavy secondary growth of quartz over the prism faces. This sitting on a bed of smaller quartz crystals.

A mound of stubby terminations (typical for this area) with crystals to 3cm which are coated in tiny sugary quartz crystals.

Thank you Don,
our NZ quartz is really under appreciated, probably has to do with the fact that the quantity of material is small so it has never really been seen on the international market. I suppose that is the case with a lot of smaller deposits which are just worked by the local collectors.
