Micros from me, as usual... It's not because I have nothing other than micros, it's just that I have much better equipment for imaging through the microscope than I do for imaging larger specimens!

According to Geary Murdock this piece was in the Ed McDole collection. Geary was from Idaho and was the person that brought out a lot of material from the Sawthooth Mtns in the 1980's. And I have had this in my collection since 1984.

RH-8 from the John Sinkankas collection. This was purchased at his home in San Diego back when he started to first sell off his collection. I grew up in San Diego, and had the fortune to see his collection in the whole many times.

Another micro, from the "trap rock" or basalt quarries of New Jersey. This epitactic association was described in:
Armbruster, T., E. Gnos, and R.P. Richards. 2002. Epitactic hedenbergite whiskers on babingtonite, a second occurrence from a Triassic basalt near Paterson, New Jersey, USA. Schweizerische Mineralogische ünd Petrographische Mitteilungen 82: 25-32.
Description: |
Hedenbergite (white) epitactic on babingtonite (black) with prehnite. Sowerbutt Quarry, Prospect Park, New Jersey.
RPR specimen, main babingtonite crystal is 1.2 mm along front edge. |

Hi Everybody,
I am surprised that we have not seen Pectolite yet. So I am going to submit my meagar specimen along with the ugliest Zincite, Franklinite, Willemite example ever seen.
See ya later

Here's my combination piece of Zincite, Franklinite and Willemite from Franklin, Sussex County, New Jersey. When I recieved this, many years ago it added three new minerals to my collection at a very reasonable price, obviously. the specimen is 5 3/4" x 3 3/4" (14.61 x 9.53 cm). It is in keeping with my aesthetically challenged type locality specimens. And, yes, it would make a good door stop, but it is not. |
