Sainte Marie Show is not so far, so is the time to announce the party! ;-)

For all friends and collaborators of FMF, we will have a party the Friday the 24th at the closing of thre Show, 7:00 PM, in the outside tables of the Restaurant des Chasseurs, Place Fleur 1 (in front of the Tourisme Office)

Unfortunately it will be without me this year. I'll be busy during Ste Marie's week and won't be able to make it.

Here we are. For those who have not yet come we suggest to catch some warm clothes because here at the moment is getting colder than usual.

Starting to speak about minerals, there are rumors about an interesting Spanish novelty. We will see.

Yesterday began the installation of the stands of the fair and we had a great weather, but today things have been changed and he is currently dropping a huge storm...

However, as yesterday was a very good day, we had the chance to see a Spanish novelty, about which had been some rumors. Somewhere in the Caravia area, Asturias, have appeared (now or on the past) very different Fluorites from the classic Asturias Fluorite (though it has a similar apperance as some other Asturias Fluorite from older collections, like the Folch collection, for example)

Jose Ramon Garcia whom this year has for first time his own stand (tent) very well situated in the heart of the Fair, brought these Fluorites, and although the specimens displayed by José Ramón are very nice, the best specimens (especially the smaller ones) have been sold to another dealer, so can't be viewed in this Ste Marie Show.

Unfortunately I can't tell you more details than: "Caravia, Asturias" and unfortunately too the date were they were found is: "who knows!" ;-)

Anyway, as you can see from the photos, these are truly spectacular Fluorites.

Another novelty of the fair are these crystallographically complex epidotes from the Mine Raywoo, Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan. I am back in Barcelona, and of the many memories the most important was the slight nostalgia I felt when I attended the show as a visitor not a dealer, which I have been for 25 years. But as I said life changes and we have to look for new experiences. That said, and given that I saw some FMF members taking photos that I am sure they will add to the forum over the next few days, I think the best thing is for me to give you a summary of the two things that I am best able to comment on in my position as an observer and veteran of this show:

- New finds
There were not many, and in my opinion one of the best, if not the best, were the Fluorites from Caravia, Asturias, Spain, as well as the Epidotes from Pakistan, the new Gersdorffites from Aït Ahman, Morocco, the new Pyromorphites from Asprières, France, the Gismondines from Lombardia, Italy, and the not so new 'not heat treated' Zoisites (Tanzanite variety) with Albite, Prehnite and Chabazite and the pink Zoisites both from the hills of Merelani, Tanzania. These are among the few major novelties that I can mention. As is logical among all the material in Ste Marie there will have been many other minor things worthwhile being mentioned, but I leave that to other FMFers who were in Ste Marie who will no doubt enjoy telling us about them.
I guess I should also comment on the numerous Fluorites from La Viesca that have come from the collection of Fernando Brugos and that were being sold by José Ramón García (along with another dealer) - there were a good range of them available at the show.

- The show of Sainte Marie-aux-Mines will move to Colmar
It is now official that the show will move to Colmar sometime in the future, and the news was on the TV and the local press and they gave the name of the possible new organizer: Mr. Éric Jacob. I guess I knew that this would have to happen one day, but it still hurts that it will leave Ste Marie ;-(
Anyway this will not happen in a single year, as it will take a number of years and it is certain that in 2012 we will be back in Ste Marie and it might even be there for a number of years after that before it finally makes the permanent move to Colmar. Hello Jordi

Saw your postings about the show and the new finds, and found specially the new Gersdorffites from Morocco interesting. Do you have a photo to show us? And was this new find (long time since there was any Gersdorfites coming out from Bou Azzer) small or big. How about the quality?

Would be nice if you could publish a photo (or two?) of one of the Gersdorffites and maybe some words around this new find.

As far as I know, not too much specimens but with very good quality.

As I mentioned upper "I will add more photos when I have time". Sorry but more and more I have serious problems with my limited time... ;-)

sorry, we did not make it to the FMF meeting (but i asked Luiz (Menezez) to apologize .. the mindat meeting was too hard ;) and our car was at the opposite side. I was glad to meet you of course albeit brief and hopefully we´ll meet in Munich again. Short show report maybe beginning of next week at mindat.org
